You download 12c from Oracle.com, the newest version, ran startup and you can’t install the Standard Edition? Simple reason for that. You did what I did!
You downloaded the wrong version 🙂
You need to download 12.1.0.1
The latest version of 12c 12.1.0.2 is Enterprise only
